Within the events and activities carried out by the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit in the Department of Architecture at the University of Technology for the academic year 2022-2023, an intellectual  lecture entitled “Activating the positive use of social networking sites” was organized.

The lecture was given by the lecturer, Nora Iyad Ghaib, an employee at our university.

 The lecture aims at acknowledging undergraduate  students of the new social media, as modern societies have witnessed at the present time the growing phenomenon of using electronic communication technologies, as a result ,the  new generation has no longer interacts with traditional media as much as it  interacts with electronic media. This generation named as  the network generation or the Internet generation.

 There are many social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and others, and students have been instructed to self-monitor while using communication and media technology because these applications are just techniques and their positive usage depends on the nature of their user.

A group of the faculty members at the department of architecture ,University of technology, represented by the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr. Mufid Ehsan, the head of the Architectural Design Branch, Dr. Ahmed Louay Ahmed, the Islamic architecture lecturer for  undergraduate  studies-fourth stage in addition to Assistant  Prof. Dr. Zainab Hussein Raouf (Islamic Architecture ) lecturer  for   postgraduate studies, , Interior Design lecturer Assistant Prof. Dr. Shamael Muhammad Wajih, accompanied by  the students of the fourth stage of the University of Technology , Department of Architecture, visited the Islamic Museum and Umm Al-Qura Mosque In Baghdad, in order to enhance the theoretical knowledge within the subject of Islamic architecture for undergraduate studies and the subject of(Architecture in the Islamic Context )for  postgraduate studies. 

The visit included a tour to the  group of buildings within the Sunni Endowment Divan, starting with the Islamic Museum, during which the students got acquainted with Islamic history and the primary patterns of mosque architecture within a group of architectural models in the museum. 

The group also went to the hall of celebrations and religious events, then to the Umm Al-Qura Mosque, to be acquainted of all mosque details .

The Department of Architecture at the University of Technology, in cooperation with the Women's Empowerment Unit, On Monday, December 5, 2022, hosted a workshop entitled "Bullying against Women: Inherited or Acquired".

The workshop discussed with defining the concept of bullying in general and with women in particular, the bullying Iraqi women are exposed to in some societal environments, whether this bullying is within the family or from society, and whether it is for financial reasons or by virtue of imposing control. Bullying was discussed in Iraqi legal legislations , the law for  bullying punishment , the role of the tribal society .The development of solutions to this phenomenon represented by raising awareness and educating were discussed  , as well as educating the victim of  her rights by  confronting family and societal bullying.

The workshop was attended by the scientific assistant, Dr. Mufid Ihsan Shawk, and the administrative assistant, Dr. Ahmed Talib Hameed, in addition to the female teaching staff and employees.

The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participating guests.

The Department of Architecture participated  in the Chess Championship of the President of the University of Technology Chess Championship Cup  for faculty members and students .The championship was held on Monday 28,November. The student, Alaa Husein,the fourth stage student, granted the second rank for students, whereas Dr.Mufeed Ihsan Alshok granted the second rank  for professors within this competition .Congratulations for us this achievement.

A welcoming meeting took place  for the new students on the first stage On Sunday,November27, 2022, by the head of the department, Prof .Dr. Ibrahim Jawad, and each of the Scientific Assistant Dr. Mufid Ihsan, the Administrative Assistant  Dr. Ahmed Talib, the Head of the Architectural Design Branch Dr. Ahmed Loay, the Head of the Urban Design Branch Dr. Nada Abdel Moeen, the first stage director Dr. Mostafa Kamil, , in addition to  faculty members  of the first stage.

They were welcomed to join the department  family, which considered  as their second home. In the meeting , the relationship between the student and the professor in general and within the department in particular with regard to the nature of teaching in architecture and the need to communicate and interact with the professor were  discussed  as well as their desires for their central acceptance in collages . They were also given an introduction to how to study and teach architecture, the tools and supplies that students need in architecture . Wishing them a year full of success and knowledge .
