On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the Department of Architecture Engineering hosted the final presentation for second-year students in the Architectural Design Branch for the "Design of a Model Primary School" project. The project aimed to introduce students to the function of co-educational primary school buildings by providing an inspiring educational environment that includes the design of comfortable classrooms equipped with modern educational technologies. It also focused on enhancing social interaction by providing shared spaces such as playgrounds and libraries to encourage interaction among students; flexibility in design by creating adjustable spaces to meet different needs such as group or individual activities, while accommodating the different human scale of children and harmonizing it with the adult scale in a single project; integration of activities through the study of spatial distribution for educational, recreational, and administrative functions; and the study of furniture placement within spaces. Additionally, the project emphasized achieving environmental sustainability by using eco-friendly building materials and designing natural lighting and ventilation systems. Lastly, the project aimed at ensuring safety and security for students by providing clear emergency exits, designing wide corridors for ease of movement, and ensuring a safe design environment for the arrival and departure of students to and from the project site.
The esteemed Academic Assistant and Administrative Assistant were invited to attend the student project evaluations, conducted by Dr. Ahmed Louay Ahmed, the course leader for second-year architectural design.
