On Monday, March 17, 2025, a master's thesis defense was held for the student (Noor Abdul Hassan Salman) titled "Spatial Integration in Hospitals - Local Intensive Care Units as a Case Study."
In light of the continuous development of health sciences and the emergence of new disease strains, there is a growing need to find architectural spaces that achieve spatial integration with sustainable goals and strategies, while ensuring a healing environment and efficient healthcare.
The study began by benefiting from the knowledge base, concepts, and indicators presented through the literature and studies discussed in the thesis. It built the study's theoretical framework, which included (factors influencing spatial integration and the healing environment, characteristics of spatial suitability in spaces that achieve a healing environment, levels of integration in hospital spaces, and objectives of integration in the design system of intensive care units).
The study reached important results, linking the manifestations of integration to the building's material, social, and functional aspects, in light of space sharing and service integration to enhance communication, idea exchange, and resource sharing, resulting in a high-efficiency building.
The discussion committee was composed of the esteemed professors:
- Prof. Dr. Bassim Hassan Hashem - Chairman
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Younis Mahmoud Mohammed - Member
- Dr. Yahya Adel Ibrahim - Member
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kamil Kazem - Supervising Member
