The Department of Architecture at the University of Technology held a scientific trip for the fourth stage of students by visiting the residential complex in Salhia and the residential complex in Haifa Street as part of the requirements of the residential project for the fourth grade students in urban design. This trip comes within the annual activities of the Department of Architecture in the spirit of cooperation Among the students of the department and familiarize them with the requirements of the labor market and increase their scientific and professional expertise in the field of their academic specialization within the annual plan of the department, which aims to raise and build their abilities in the field of architecture and urban planning Supervised on this trip who are the responsible on fourth stage as following as : -

The Department of Architecture at the University of Technology has been given the Master's of degree for postgraduate a student “ Ahmed Hameed Kadhim “  about the thesis entitled  ((  URBAN CULTURAL SPACES )) which has been held at the discussion hall of department .

The searcher have been focused (The need for a comprehensive knowledge framework to manage the dimensions (economic, social and urban) affecting the activation of urban cultural spaces locally (Urban, Economic and Social) . The research was based on a basic hypothesis that: "Cultural space is activated through the management of effective indicators for both urban and remote dimensions. Economic and social dimension), " This is within the methodology of the research prepared in the extraction of indicators for the management of dimensions (urban, social, economic) affecting the activation of the urban cultural space and extract the most important indicators for the management of each dimension, and study and extract solutions from global experiences to clarify their impact on the activation of cultural spaces and the most important strategies This process is applied in the application of measurement in the practical study of the selected area, namely the area of ((Mutanabi Street and cultural spaces in the surrounding area within the center of the old Rusafa))

The Department of Architecture has been held a charity market dedicated to orphaned children. The charity market included an exhibition for the book, which included various types of books, such as  : ( engineering, scientific, cultural and literary ) .In addition to this market comes within the annual activities of the department of architecture to enhancing a spirit of cooperation and solidarity between the students of the department and the segments of society and social groups , believing in strengthening the spirit of citizenship in the service and building of our beloved Iraq.    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Department of architecture at the University of Technology has been held a scientific session at the blue hall in the department  entitled " The reality ofarchitectural education " on 5 - 3 - 2018 under the supervision of the head of the department Prof Dr. Ibrahim Jawad Kazem and organized by Prof. Dr. Sana Shataa Abbas and Asst prof Dr. Safaa alddin Hussein .

Head of the department has been presented a welcoming speech on the attendance and distinguished guests the opening of the Session were attended by the assistant of the head of the department for scientific affairs and postgraduate studies Asst prof Dr. Bassim Hassan Hashem and the assistant head of the department for administrative affairs Asst Prof Dr. Abdullah Saadoun Salman and number of faculties as well as postgraduate and primary students in the department .

The GOAL of the Session was to introduce the latest developments in architectural education and how to upgrade it to a high degree of scientific and cognitive competence.

The session included three main lectures that were divided among a number of lectures:- ·  

     The first lecture: - presented by Prof. Asmaa Hussein, entitled "Data self-organized education".·    

   The second lecture: - Presented by Asst prof Dr. Suzanne Abdul Hussein from University of AL-Nahrain entitled "University education in the departments of architecture as one of the pillars of the sustainable development of society" .·    

   The third lecture: - Presented by Dr. Mustafa Kamel Kazem entitled "Vision in the reliability of architectural education.

The Department of Architecture at the University of Technology has been given the Master's of degree for postgraduate a student “  Asmaa Omar Basheer  “  about the thesis entitled  (( Livable neighborhoods Study of Pedestrian Friendly Environment Vitality  which has held at the discussion hall of department .

 

The searcher has been focused of studying the vital and pedestrian friendly environment, but an issue emerged that there is (a gap about vitality of the pedestrian friendly environment in livable neighborhoods). So the thesis focused on pinning the important strategies, treatments and characteristics that included (designing pedestrian walking paths, increasing housing populations, energizing existing neighborhoods, diverse use, increasing housing choices, the sense of neighborhoods, increasing social interactions, increasing the neighborhood quality). And knowing how impactful it is to the livable neighborhood.

Research hypothesis (The pedestrian friendly environment vitality is achieved through a set of strategies, treatments and characteristics) .
