Master Thesis Discussion Titled “The role of the digital twin in public buildings managing -controlling the spread of viruses in public buildings

Written by
The Student ((Hassan Ali Hassouni)) at the Department of Architecture has been
granted a master's degree in Architecture on his thesis titled“The role of the digital
twin in public buildings managing -controlling the spread of viruses in public buildings”
The discussion was held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023,, in the Department of
Architectural Engineering at the University of Technology.

The thesis focused on the concept of the Digital Twin in architecture and reviewed the
latest developments and studies related to the creation of the digital twin and the
current global challenges related to epidemics, especially the COVID-19 pandemic, and
how to confront these challenges through the digital twin.
The study aimed at presenting mechanisms for applying the digital twin in managing
the pandemic and controlling the viral spread within public buildings, The research
concluded that it is possible to achieve a safe and healthy indoor environment by

bridging the gap between architecture and humans using the digital twin, through
interventions (engineering, administrative, and personal controls) and mechanisms
that work to reduce the transmission of infection and protect the health of
individuals.

The discussion was held on Thursday, 26 October 2023, in the Department of
Architectural Engineering at the University of Technology.
The research focused on the concept of urban quality as a tool for reshaping the
built environment to accommodate new urban conditions and its role in
Achieving prosperity and contemporary development.
The research aimed to investigate the spatial dimensions at multiple levels that
achieve urban quality to develop a hypothetical model that can be tested in local
urban systems.
The study clarified the importance of integrating and interconnecting the spatial
dimensions (the cognitive-social dimension, the formal-functional dimension
(morphological), and the visual-aesthetic dimension) to achieve high-quality
urban environments.
-The discussion committee was headed by Professor Dr. Wahda Shukor Al-
