Hussaen A. H. Kahachi is a faculty member (Lecturer) at the Department of Architectural Engineering at University of Technology, Iraq. He is also the Journal Manager of the Iraqi Journal of Architecture and Engineering. He is also the Academic Development and Learning Division Director at the University of Technology, Iraq. His research focuses broadly on the following topics: Architectural Design, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Housing Affordability and Informality, Project Management, Future Cities, Sustainable Design and Development, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Geographic Information System (GIS) and CityEngine, Advanced Building Technology and Nanotechnology.

Hussaen has more than 7 years of university level teaching at University of Technology in Iraq, Cardiff University in the UK, and University of Delaware in the USA. He has more than 75 course certificates from top universities and organizations such as MIT, Harvard, ETH Zurich, Yale University, University of California – Davis, Cardiff University, University College London (UCL), University of Toronto, University of Virginia, The Ohio State University, Autodesk, Elsevier, LinkedIn, and Udemy.

Hussaen has been awarded more than 25 times by various entities and organizations nationally and internationally such as Fulbright Visiting Scholar Award in 2018 where he worked as an exchange scholar at University of Delaware in the USA, Appreciation letter from the Department of Civil Engineering at University of Delaware. Moreover, he has been granted the Elite Overseas Students' Award by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Valedictorian shield by the Vice President of Iraq and the Iraqi Parliament, and Festival of Sovereignty III Award by the Iraqi Prime Minister and the Minister of Youth and Sport.

Hussaen has participated in various voluntary activities and given many lectures and seminars in collaboration with/or at various professional, governmental and non-governmental organizations including; Iraqi Ministry of Housing and Construction, Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, The Iraqi National Center for Engineering Consultancy, Iraq Society of Engineers, Baghdad Municipality Council, Baghdad University, and Al-Khillani Socio Cultural Foundation. He was one of the key speakers in TEDx Baghdad in 2013. He is also a member of Junior Faculty Development Program - BECA - International Exchange Alumni, Iraqi Engineers Union, Federation of Arab Engineers, Iraqi Society of Engineers, Association for Project Management, Royal Town Planning Institute, Autodesk Education Network, Autodesk Ambassador Hub, and other groups and networks.

Finally, Hussaen is a Certified Autodesk Revit Architecture Professional, Autodesk Revit Structure Professional, Autodesk Revit Mechanical and Plumping Professional, Autodesk Revit Electrical Professional, Autodesk AutoCAD Professional, and Autodesk 3ds Max Professional. He is also an Adobe Certified Associate in Graphic Design & Illustration using Adobe Illustrator, and Visual Design using Adobe Photoshop.

Hussaen was responsible for introducing/implementing Building Information Modelling in 2013 and Building Performance Analysis (BPA) in 2015 into the curriculum of the B.Sc. in Architectural Engineering program. This implementation as well as the various seminars given by him at various governmental and non-governmental organizations were key drivers for the spreading and implementation of these systems nationally.
