Dr. Ibrahim J. Kadhim received his professional degree in architecture from the College of Architectural Engineering, University of Baghdad (1983), a master’s degree (1991), and PhD in Architecture (1998) from the department of architecture, University of Technology. He has promoted to the rank of Lecturer (1998), Assist. Professor (2010), Professor (2014), all in the Department of Architectural Engineering, University of Technology, Baghdad Iraq.

 

The major research interest of Professor Ibrahim Jawad Kadhim is philosophy and theories of architecture, architecture and urban design pedagogy, analytical studies of modern theories of architecture, and architectural criticism. However, the scope of his research also includes vernacular and local architecture studies, smart buildings, and building structure and modern construction technology.

Throughout more than thirty years of academic experience, since October 1990, Dr. Ibrahim Jawad Kadhim involved in teaching architecture through theory and design studios in both undergraduate and graduate programs (Master's and PhD). His theory classes mainly focused on Building Construction, History and Theory of Architecture, and Criticism and Philosophy of Architecture. In design studios his focus is on Architectural Design Studios, Architectural Details, and reviewing and following capstone and graduation projects. In 2013, he won Tamayouz Excellence Award in Education for his outstanding supervision to the award-winner graduation projects of the year.

 

Along his academic and professional career, Dr. Ibrahim Jawad Kadhim has received numerous honors and awards. Among the most important is Tamayouz Excellence Award in Education for his outstanding supervision to the award-winner graduation projects of the year, 2013. He also received many thanks and appreciation certificates from different universities and institutions in Iraq for his invaluable contribution to both the academic and professional fields in Iraq. Many of these thanks and appreciation lettes are for his influential contributions to enhance the system of higher education not only at architecture departments and colleges but also at all Iraqi Universities.
